Description
The JBL Boombox 4 is a large, portable Bluetooth speaker built for outdoor gatherings, parties and long days away from the mains. Two 123mm woofers, two 20mm tweeters and three passive radiators deliver up to 210 W RMS plugged in and 200 W RMS on battery, with bass reaching 37 Hz. It suits buyers who want serious volume with a long-running battery, rated at up to 28 hours or 34 hours with Playtime Boost. The battery is replaceable, the body is IP68 waterproof and dustproof, and Auracast lets you link it with other compatible JBL speakers.
Key features
- Near-full power on battery. The Boombox 4 produces 200 W RMS on battery, close to the 210 W RMS it gives on mains. That is up from 136 W on battery for the Boombox 3.
- Long, replaceable battery. A 99.02 Wh lithium-ion pack gives up to 28 hours of play, or up to 34 hours with Playtime Boost. The battery can be swapped, so a worn pack can be replaced instead of the whole speaker, and a spare (sold separately) extends play.
- Deep, adjustable bass. The frequency response reaches down to 37 Hz. Two Bass Boost modes, Deep Bass and Punchy Bass, are switched from a button on the top panel, while AI Sound Boost adjusts the sound in real time.
- IP68 protection. The speaker is rated IP68 waterproof and dustproof, up from IP67 on the Boombox 3. It suits poolside, beach and outdoor use.
- Auracast multi-speaker. Two Boombox 4 units can be stereo-paired, or several Auracast-enabled JBL speakers can be linked together. This replaces the PartyBoost system of earlier models.
- USB-C lossless and power bank. Connect a laptop or other device over USB-C for wired lossless playback, where the source offers lossless audio. The same port lets the speaker charge a phone.
- Redesigned driver layout. The central subwoofer of the previous generation is replaced by two larger 123mm woofers. The speaker is also 12% lighter than the Boombox 3.
