Description
The brand-new iPhone 18 Pro Max is Apple's largest Pro iPhone, here in the 512GB version. It pairs a 6.9-inch ProMotion OLED display with the 2nm A20 Pro chip and a triple 48MP camera system. It suits buyers who want long battery life, serious photo and video tools and plenty of room for media. Compared with the iPhone 17 Pro Max it adds a variable-aperture main camera, a smaller Dynamic Island, a larger battery and faster charging.
Key features
- A20 Pro chip. The 2nm A20 Pro has a 6-core CPU with two super cores at up to 4.93 GHz and a 7-core GPU with hardware ray tracing. Graphics are over 30% faster than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, helped by a vapour chamber with three times the area of the one in the iPhone 17 Pro.
- Variable-aperture main camera. The 48MP Fusion main camera can switch between f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8 and f/4.0. In dark environments the variable aperture can let in up to 50% more light.
- Three 48MP rear cameras. A 48MP ultra wide with macro shots and a 48MP 4x tetraprism telephoto join the main camera. Together they give 8x optical-quality zoom and digital zoom up to 40x.
- Pro video tools. The phone records 4K Dolby Vision at up to 120fps, and ProRes up to 4K120 to an external drive. ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, ACES and Genlock are supported.
- 6.9-inch ProMotion display. The Super Retina XDR OLED panel runs at 2868 x 1320 and 460 ppi with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. It reaches 3,000 nits outdoors, has an anti-reflective coating and an Always-On display.
- Larger battery, faster charging. Apple quotes up to 29 hours typical use and 43 hours of video playback. Wired charging reaches 50% in about 15 minutes with a 60W or higher adapter, and MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging run at up to 25W.
- Durable build. An aluminium unibody with a Ceramic Shield 2 front and Ceramic Shield back. It is rated IP68 for depths of 6 m for up to 30 minutes.
- Fast connectivity. Wi-Fi 7 through the Apple N1 chip, Bluetooth 6 and 5G via the Apple C2 modem. The USB-C port supports USB 3 speeds up to 10Gbps and 4K HDR DisplayPort output.
