Description
The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 9 is a brand-new portable Bluetooth speaker with a round body framed by an aluminium band and an integrated carry handle. It suits listeners who want room-filling stereo sound at home and the freedom to move it between rooms. A 120mm woofer and three 20mm tweeters deliver 50W RMS, with Constant Sound Field spreading stereo music across three channels. Self-tuning, a 7-band app EQ, Auracast and the ability to charge a phone round out a well-equipped package.
Key features
- Stereo sound from one speaker. The Onyx Studio 9 plays stereo audio without downmixing to mono. Constant Sound Field up-mixes music to three channels, one for each tweeter, for a wider soundstage.
- 50W RMS driver setup. A 120mm woofer works alongside three 20mm tweeters in a 3.1 layout. Frequency response is 50Hz to 20kHz (-6dB) with a signal-to-noise ratio above 80dB.
- Self-tuning and app EQ. The built-in microphone lets the speaker recalibrate its sound to the room each time it is switched on. A 7-band EQ is available through the Harman Kardon One app, which also handles settings and firmware updates.
- Battery for room-to-room listening. The 4722 mAh lithium-ion battery gives up to 8 hours of playtime, depending on volume and content. A full recharge takes about 4 hours from the mains.
- Wireless connectivity. Bluetooth 5.3 supports A2DP 1.4 and AVRCP 1.6, and multipoint keeps two mobile devices connected at once. Auracast links it with Harman Kardon and JBL speakers, and a second Onyx Studio 9 can be added for Stereo Boost.
- Doubles as a power bank. The USB-C port, rated 5V / 2.1A, can charge a phone. It is the first Onyx Studio model with this feature.
- Refined design. An integrated handle made with 90% recycled aluminium frames the round body. At 130 mm deep it is slimmer than the Onyx Studio 8.
