Description
The Apple 140W USB-C Power Adapter (model A2452) is Apple's highest-output single-port charger and its first built with gallium nitride. It is the adapter Apple recommends for the 16-inch MacBook Pro, charging the 2021 model from 0 to 50% in about 30 minutes with the USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable. It suits MacBook Pro and MacBook Air owners who want full-speed charging, and its open USB-C Power Delivery 3.1 standard means it also works with iPhone 15 models, Vision Pro and other USB-C devices, which take only the power they need. A 100–240 V input makes it suitable for Nigerian mains power and for travel.
Key features
- 140 W from one USB-C port. The adapter delivers up to 140 W through a single USB-C port. Output steps are 5.2 V/3 A, 9 V/3 A, 15 V/5 A, 20.5 V/5 A and 28 V/5 A.
- USB-C Power Delivery 3.1. Apple confirms support for USB-C PD 3.1. As an Extended Power Range charger, it moves beyond the previous 100 W limit by adding 28 V output.
- Fast charging for MacBook Pro. A 16-inch MacBook Pro (2021) charges from 0 to 50% in about 30 minutes using the USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable. On the 16-inch MacBook Pro (Nov 2023) or later, the 240W USB-C Charge Cable also enables fast charging.
- GaN technology. This is Apple's first charger built with gallium nitride. GaN chargers can be smaller, lighter and more efficient than silicon-based designs.
- Broad compatibility. Apple lists the MacBook Air from 2018 onwards, MacBook Pro 13, 14, 15 and 16-inch from 2016 onwards and the 12-inch Retina MacBook. It also works with iPhone 15 models, Vision Pro and AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with USB-C MagSafe Charging Case.
- Wide input range. Rated at 100–240 V AC, 2.0 A, 50/60 Hz. It works on Nigeria's 230 V supply and abroad.
- Practical plug design. The plug pins fold away for carrying. The plug head is removable.
